The Sunshine Schoolhouse will be decked out in fairy lights for this magical evening with your Sunshine neighbors.  We will taste specially-selected wines and enjoy a wide array of appetizers as we view a fantastic array of silent auction and raffle items offered by Sunshine families. 


You do not need to attend the wine tasting event to participate in the auction and raffle.  See details below. 


All proceeds benefit the SFPD funding for needed firefighting equipment.  Your district needs your participation!

When:                                   Friday, November 10, 6 PM - 9 PM

                                                 Open House to Register and View Items 12 PM - 4 PM


Admission:                         $30 Donation.  $15 For Non-Drinkers.  Must be 21 to attend. Hurry!  Space is limited!

Attire:                                  This will be a classy event!  Please dress nicely.


Silent Auction:                Array of dinners, adventures, art and other offerings.  See the catalog here.  Bid with your assigned bid number at the  open house on Friday and the wine tasting event.  Beat out your neighbors immediately by bidding the “buy it now” price before the evening event. Final bids must be made by 8:30 PM Friday. (See Winning Strategies below!)


Raffle:                                 Nine unique baskets prepared and donated by Sunshine Neighbors. See the catalog here. Purchase  sets of 10 raffle tickets for $20 and allocate to your favorite basket or baskets.  Purchase tickets and view the baskets at the open house on Friday and during the wine tasting. Drawings at 8:30 Friday night. You do not need to be present to win.

We sincerely hope that the auction and raffle items generate excitement and enthusiasm in our community!  We are depending on that enthusiasm to encourage lively bidding for items and the sale of many raffle tickets. 


Here are some strategies for winning the items you love:


  • View the attached catalogs of auction and raffle items and make a list of the items you would like to win.  Auction items are numbered and raffle items have a unique corresponding letter.

  • If you register for the event, you will be given a unique “bid number” that you will write on your raffle tickets or when you place a bid for any silent auction item.  That will keep your bidding anonymous for the silent auction, and ensure we can contact you for items you win.  You will need to register for the auction and raffle even if you do not attend the event so that we can assign you a bid number. 

  • Anyone can come to the open house at the school house on Friday from noon - 4 PM and bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets.

  • The “Buy it Now” price option will only be available during the open house on Friday.  During the event, you will need to competitively bid on an item to win  it.  


Auction Items Winning Strategies 


  • Make a note of the minimum bid amounts and “buy it now” prices for the auction items.  This will give you an idea for the bidding range for any item you want to win, and help you plan a winning strategy

  • For higher-value items, consider forming a “syndicate” - a group of friends who will pool money to maximize the highest bid price for that item.

  • Consider bidding the “buy it now” price for any item you really want and don’t want to lose! That immediately wins the item and cancels any further bidding.  “First come, first served” for any item buy-outs.  Be sure to come early to the open house from noon to 4 PM on Friday. 

  • If you wish to buy an auction item outright, but cannot attend the open house, send a proxy to bid for you with your bid number.   

  • If you cannot attend the event on Friday night, send a “proxy” bidder to bid on your behalf.  Authorize your proxy to place up to a maximum bid for each item before the event begins, so they are ready to win the item on your behalf. Remember that you are making a tax-deductible donation to our district that will help equip our firefighters! Make sure they have your bid number!

  • You do not need to be present to win the auction items.  We will contact the winning bidder through their bid number. 


Raffle Item Winning Strategies


  • We are excited about the variety and quality of raffle items this year!  Many are worth well over $100, and any can be won with as little as one $2.00 ticket!

  • We are depending on our neighbors to buy lots of raffle tickets!  We are suggesting that each participant buy two packs of 10 tickets at $20.00 each. 

  • Spread your tickets evenly across baskets, or increase your winning odds by  “stuffing the ballot box” of your favorite basket or baskets by putting all your tickets for that item.

  • The schoolhouse will be open from 12 PM - 4 PM on Friday before the event so that you can view items and “vote” early.

  • If you do not plan to attend the wine tasting event, buy your tickets Friday afternoon at the open house and “vote” for your favorite baskets then and there.  Be sure to write your bid number on each ticket so we can notify you when you win an item! 

  • We will draw the winning tickets for each basket after 8:30 PM on Thursday. You do not need to be present to win! We will contact you after the event through your bidding number.
